Meat prices: Churarachandpur Autonomous District Council releases new rates
The Churachandpur Autonomous District Council administration has revised meat prices after a series of complaints from the public over the steep hike imposed by sellers.
The order issued by Churachandpur ADC CEO Lalthazam said that the revised rates should be followed “strictly” by all butchers and meat sellers with Churachandpur Autonomous District Council areas.
The new rates are of beef and pork are:
- Beef (flesh) – Rs 450/kg
- Beef (mix) – Rs 380/kg
- Pork – Rs 380/kg
“All vendor/peddlers are also instructed not to charge more than Rs 10/kg from these (new) rates,” the order said, adding that anyone found guilty of violating the standing order will be prosecuted under Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act 1971.
The new order also necessitated all butchers/meat sellers to obtain a license from the ADCC Town Office after getting ‘NOC’ from concerned Village Authority. “No butcher shall be allowed to sell meat without obtaining a license from ADCC,” said the official order.
Besides, only a designated spot in a village will be allowed to sell meat from now on.
