Churachandpur Medical Department is debt-ridden amid Covid-19 pandemic: Officials

State government yet to release funds, say officials

Sielmat (Churachandpur): Amid the rising Covid-19 infections in the state and Churahandpur District in particular, top health officials said that the the state government has not release adequate amount of fund for fighting coronavirus. “Churachandpur Medical Department right now is having a debt of more than Rs 12 lakhs in addition to the Rs 21 lakhs debt for staff’s DA,” reports Hmasawnna Thar newspaper quoting officials.

According to the report, Lanva TD Block Building, Sadbhavna Mandap, New Lamka TD Block, Khuga Army Camp, 113 Bn & STC BSF, Singngat Army Camp & CRPF Loktak Lake are some of the Covid Care Centre (CCC) in the district for treating Covid patients who are looked after by the district medical department.

The officials also said that they have sent representation to the state government informing about the fund crunch and yet there is still no reply.

The CMO incharge and his team also met Heal and Family Welfare’s Principal Secretary and other top state health officials including the director of health services. However, they could not commit any timeframe or amount of money for the district, the report said.

“If the situation consinues like this, Covid Care Centres will no longer be able to provide food for inmates,” they said.
